Additional learning support
At Glendore, we believe every student should be known, valued, supported and able to participate fully in school life. We provide targeted support for students with disability, additional learning needs or those requiring extra support at different stages of their learning.
A formal diagnosis is not required for support to begin. Our teachers, Learning and Support Team, Student Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) and wellbeing staff work in partnership with parents and carers to identify needs, make appropriate adjustments and monitor progress.
Where required, we also collaborate with specialists and external service providers to develop individualised learning, wellbeing and support plans that help every student learn, belong and succeed.
Support that fits your child's needs
Every student is different, and support at Glendore is tailored to individual strengths, needs and learning goals. We work closely with students, parents and carers, teachers, support staff and, where appropriate, external specialists to develop the right support for each child.
Additional support may include:
- targeted literacy and numeracy intervention, including small-group support
- classroom support from teachers and School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs)
- individualised learning, behaviour, wellbeing and adjustment plans
- specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- extension and enrichment through High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE)
- adjustments to teaching, learning, assessment, resources or the learning environment
- assistive technology and accessible learning resources
- wellbeing and counselling support
- collaboration with external specialists and service providers where appropriate
Our Learning Support Team meets regularly to identify student needs and coordinate, monitor, review and adjust supports. This ensures decisions are informed by assessment and progress data, teacher observations, student needs and input from families and specialists.
Parents and carers are important partners in this process. Support plans and adjustments are regularly reviewed and refined to ensure they remain responsive and help every student participate, progress and succeed. If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
